Hindi is the state language of Rajasthan. English is spoken by nearly everybody, even in far-flung rural areas, as Rajasthan is a tourism based economy.
As the state was formed by fusing together various princely states, one can see different dialects in the local languages.
Marwari
People of western Rajasthan usually speak Marwari dialect. In fact it is the most commonly used dialect in Rajasthan.
Jaipuri/Dhundhari
The Jaipuri dialect is widely used in the east and southeast regions of Rajasthan. Jaipuri dialect is also known as Dhundhari and is spoken by maximum number of Rajasthanis following Marwari.
Malvi/Malwi
Malvi (Malwi) dialect is spoken by the people of the southeast region.
Mewati
Mewati dialect is used in Alwar and neighboring regions.
In Rajasthan, guides fluent in other languages are easily available. Your tour operator can easily provide you with a tour guide who speaks, French, German, Russian, Japanese or any other language as per your requirement.
