Darrah Sanctuary, Kota


Darrah Sanctuary, KotaDarrah Wildlife Sanctuary is the place to go to, to see wolf, cheetah, nilgai, deer and wild boar. Darrah is spread over an area of 250 sq. kms and is located a mere 50 kms. away from Kota.

Darrah is a hilly and thickly forested sanctuary. It used to be the royal hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Kota. Although this sanctuary is open from October to june, the best time to visit is from February to May due to the pleasant weather and abundance of water and plant life that attracts the animals out into the open.

A permission to visit can be obtained from the local forest ranger or district forest office in Kota. It can be organized by travel agents. The foreign tourist visiting Darrah wildlife sanctuary has to pay an entry fee of Rs 100 per person and for Indian visitors there is a fee of Rs. 20 per person.


By Air: The closest airport is at Udaipur.

Nearest Rail Head: Kota on the Delhi Mumbai rail route. It has several trains each day from Delhi, Mumbai, Agra and Jaipur.
